Colon Family

Met the Colon Family at the IMA to get some photos of the whole family, but specifically to photograph Bella because she recently turned five! It threatened to rain, but actually turned into a nice morning to photograph. It was beautifully overcast and not too cold. What I discovered about five year old Bella is that she is going to be Hello Kitty for Halloween and that she has the BEST hair ever for a five year old. Tell me I'm wrong :).

This one is my favorite from our session. Looking at it just makes me want to laugh!

This last one has such a great mood to it! I couldn't help but include it for your viewing pleasure.

Staycation 2010

Our vacation to the beach didn't happen this year. We stayed at home waiting for Maggie to arrive. In an attempt to fill our need for a vacation, I sort of planned a "staycation". The idea was on my mind for awhile, the planning kind of happened last minute, but what's new there. I thought we would head down to Bloomington to see Alex & Meagan. Stephen's mom was given a free night at a hotel in Seymour that she blessed us with. The hotel was new, had a breakfast bar and an indoor pool. Julian told us, literally twenty times, that he didn't want to leave "this place" and wanted to stay "six nights". This staycation ultimately included swimming, mask making, pizza eating, street walking, uphill hiking, bed jumping, and a little bit of kite flying. It was pleasant.

Engagement Guest Book

I get it. You want to remember who all attended your wedding. It makes sense to sit out a book for everyone to write their names in. You know what would make even more sense? What if you put all those awesome engagement pictures you had taken into a book, left loads of space for people to write their name or even a little note, and gave your guests the opportunity to document that they were there while they saw all your photos! Ta Da! Engagement Guest Book.

10x10 (20 sides) books are available for $150. Additional pages are $10/ea. Add a photo cutout on the cover for only $15.

Flush Mount Albums

How do you plan to store all those beautiful wedding day photos? Don't be like my parents. They keep theirs in a shoe box. Don't be like Stephen's parents. They keep theirs in a huge white leather album with "Our Wedding" scrawled across the front in gold lettering. You need muscles to get that sucker our of its box!
How about a beautiful, modern flush mount album? A photographer in San Antonio recently turned me onto albums made by Finao. They are only sold through professional photographers (that's me!), and I've decided to ditch my old options for the, not only high quality, but huge selection that Finao gives a couple when selecting their wedding album. Take a look!

McPheron Family

I ask people what they are hoping for at the beginning of each of my sessions. Alisa is a friend, and we have loads of mutual friends. She seen my work and really seems to get what I love to do. She said that ultimately all she wanted was a family photo, one where the family isn't perfectly posed, shiny, and smiling. I was so relieved because Alisa and her husband have five kids the youngest of whom is six. Young kids make you break rules with photography because they don't sit perfectly still and smile on command. Older kids will, and it's not very much fun :P. Following this family without having to follow rules was! Cheers, Mel

Wood Family

Loved the hat, loved the crunching leaves, loved the colors, loved the fact that this mom thought to bring a cute blanket for little guy to lay on. I heart fall and taking pictures of cute families.
